AF Protection Limited are working with RG Spiller on the restoration of "the Old Library" in Bridport in Dorset. The project involves a complete revitilisation of the building to provide training facilities, offices and meeting rooms for small start-up business in the town whilst preserving the heritage of the building and becoming the "Literary and Scientific Institute" (LSI). The £2.6 million project has been mostly funded by charity and heritage funds and is expected to take around 18 months to complete due to the building being grade-II listed.
AF Protection are currently applying intumescent spray to new structural steels that will support a mezzanine floor within the building. Given the nature of the building's history and it's prominence in the local community, precise care has been taken to ensure that no damage or tainting of the building occurs during the application process. AF Protection are also consulting with RG Spiller to ensure that passive fire protection is completed in the correct areas of the building to the correct specification required during the renovation process.
